How To Stop Bird Biting Video

So, this here is my ghetto attempt on trying to get a page up with a video (hopefully it works)

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4013888167661190150

I hope you enjoyed the video.

Would you believe me if I told you that it probably took me gazillion retakes to do that? (I might be exaggerating a bit…) Hopefully, with more practise I’ll get comfortable and NOT sound like a boring robot.

So please no mud slinging ;-)

I decided that it’d be best to send you a direct link to the online step-up training report in your e-mail. This way I can be sure that only exclusive members get access to it.

Now, if you don’t mind, could you “try” posting some comments below? I want to be sure that this thing works right.

Oh and while you’re at it, let me know what you thought about this video.

Okay, I’m done for now.

Look out for my e-mail tomorrow

I recently aquired a yellow breasted amazon and hes a good bird. He already talks and some of the stuff is quite understandable. My problem is he wont “step up” to my finger. He only does it if i give him my arm. I have been biten by him and boy did he draw blood. I have tried to get him to step up on my finger but it doesnt work. Please, tell me what I’m doing wrong and how can i train him to step to my finger? Thank you and will be patiently waiting for a reply

We are an immensely bird loving family (parrot) and we have already five birds in our flat.

One more baby bird (parrot) who is hardly 25 days old was brought a few days back and was being maintained well. Unfortunately, yesterday the said bird fell from a distance of about 6 ft straight on to the floor, as a result of which it has received severe internal injuries. Doctor (animal) was consulted and he gave one injection (Vetcort 0.2 ml/1M + Melonex 0.2 ml 1/M) besides administering spray to soothe his pain. The bird is still in a sub conscious stage and not accepting any oral food. Can you advice certain medicine and the name of doctor with whom I can establish contact a nd consult for its further medical treatment.

We are in state of shock and very much pained. My daughter for whom we maintained these parrots is furious and severely pained. We have to anyway save this baby bird and we want your kind and immediate medical advice.

Can you extend me your help

    Thanks and regards,

Hey Danny, I have an African Grey that My Mum received from a friend of hers who obviously didnt know how to deal with parrots and abused them… As soon as he came to his new home it became like a jungle to him because i have 5 dogs. Yes 5… One Boxer, one Aussi and 4 pekinneese i dont know if i spelt that right… Anyways his behavious is amazingly frustrating he bites whenever u try to stick ur finger in his cage, and i’ve been informed that he’s been hit before by his previous owner… and i know parrots can be very cool when trained… but the problem is i’m a guitar player and my hands are very important to me and i cant handle any injuries, specialy after i experienced his biting. he’s absolutly terrified from gloves he screams and goes crazy when i stick my hands in with a glove or anything over it… so i dont think thats an option…so how can i get passt his trust issues it seems more complicated, and i dont think i’ll be able to teach him the step up unless i loose a hand lol….Plus we dont know anything about this parrot besides the fact that he’s african grey. we dont know wether he’s a male or a female… and how old he is? Can u give me tips about how to find out…

  12. bev says:

Thanks, very interesting, please send more info on traing your conure and to get him to trust you

I have a sun conure about a year old. Friendly as can be, however I move around a lot with work an he has been uprooted several times. He is a big baby and loves attention because he has recieved plenty of it. Our major problem that we have is each time we have moved his screaming has gotten worse and worse. We have tried to, when he screams to put him in the cage covered until he stops for a while then take he cover off. He used to only scream if he couldn’t see us in the room. Now its gotten so bad that he will scream even if we are in the room. I plan on having him around for the next 15 years or so but I need to find a solution to this problem. We will be living in an apt for the next 6months and I realy don’t want to get kicked out cause of the noise. If there is any help you can offer it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your video. Zazu my African Grey is now 14 weeks old. He is flying beautifully, still not 100% on his landing skills but really working on them. He as you mentioned lunging forward with a loud squawk when he realizes I want to put him away, and he also wants to bite when I want to put him in his cage. So the information will prove very vital to me. However when Zazu is on our shoulders he tends to want to bite our ears how do we stop this habit.

The other problem I have is Zazu is adamant that he wants to sit on my head and flap his wings and then flies up onto his cage. How can I stop his stepping up from my shoulder onto my head?

    Fondest regards

    Claire Palm

Hi yes I am hoping for some help we have accuired an African Grey parrot.
although I feed her clean her and try to play and interacte with her she just bites me, It seems to be geeting more aggresive as time goes on. She is fine my Husband.
And my son who is eleven.
I am afraid of being bitten and she knows it.
How can I let her Know I love her and mean her no harm and that we can get on.
While writting this she is out of the cage and for the first time has bitten me quiet hard on the finger and drew blood. what can I do

  17. Carolyn says:

Hi yes it was interesting but what was more interesting was all the owners comments. I am quite frankly appalled at how many people think that it is an OK practise to clip birds wings. If you dont want something to fly then get a Cat, Dog, Guinea Pig, Hamster, in fact anything without wings. A birds greatest joy is to fly and they are likely to live longer because they wont get fat around their internal organs and be healthier. It is a myth that they are less likely to get lost because they could still fly a bit and get caught by a preditor outside. Would it not be better to train all members of a household not to leave doors or windows open when the birds are out. Even small children can learn. There have always been birds in our house and everybody knows to check their whereabouts before opening anything. so please all you people dont deprive your birds of the one thing we would all love to do -FLY

i have a quacker and he /she i have not found out the sex of it..but anyways … he bites.. not very often, but he will bite when he doesnt want to you to move something that he is biting on. I can put my and where he is and he will step up on it. no matter where he is.. have no problem there.. His biting is getting harder. He will let you hold him, love on him, he eats what ever i eat , out of my hand .I just don’t know why he has started biting.. he is now 6 month old, I have had him since he was 2months .. I would like learning more …

  38. Greg says:

Great information so far, I wonder if it will be harder to tame a pair of birds that are 2 years old, and have never been separated. They are lovebirds, and it was a good touch to advise of the wait time until they are comfortable to begin training. Likely saved me a bit of frustration. Keep up the fantastic work!

  39. marie says:

It’s great so far. Mimi sometimes bites. She let’s me hold her and pat her on the head but she still bites sometimes. So i’m hoping your advice will help me and my cockatiel.

  43. carolynn dejaynes says:

that was a good video i really need some help with my parrotlet

  44. Jill says:

Thank you for the video, I didn’t realize so many people were interested in birds as pets.

My budgie is beautiful and vey tame, flying around the house and into the bedroom looking for us, and seems happy enough, but will occasionally, out of the blue, and for no apparent reason, bite us on the cheek. This makes my husband and I wary and unable to love him unconditionally as we would like.

The video didn’t address this type of biting. I can understand a bird being annoyed and biting because it is being forced to go into its cage when it wants to stay out, but this random act of biting is a mystery . Hope you can help.

  45. Wanda says:

My new quaker parrots is biting me help me to get them to stop l love birds and the people that had these birds where just gonna turn them lose and i took them so they would die please help me

  47. Michael Pearson says:

Danny – there is no video. My expectation is to view your expertise in practice though example; as your original promise; after which you would tempt us by your enthusiasm into further participation/purchasing your products.

Its going to be hard work turning me around now.

  48. Margarita says:

Thank you for sharing the information. Hopefully you can share some more info on how to stop my Quaker from screaming and teach him to talk.
So far no problem with the biting or handling, just the screeching that sometimes gets to me!
If he is out of the cage he is mostly quiet. If he is on my shoulder he is mostly quiet but sometimes he screams and kills my ear.
Hope you can help and thanks again!

  49. Patty says:

I’ve had my umbrella cockatoo for 28 yrs and my blue and gold macaw 18 yrs. The macaw loved my husband and only he could handle him. My husband passed away and I need to know if my macaw will ever take to me. I took these pets for life but his screaming, lunging obvious distaste for anyone makes me wonder if he would be better off with someone else. My cockatoo is a lover but also screams when the macaw screams. After all these years can my macaw ever learn to stop screaming? This bird actually loves my dog more than anyone and feeds him his fruit all day. Is a bird too old to change?

  50. tony says:

    thank you,
I was givin an Amizon-green parrit with red cap. I don’t know anything about birds so your video gave me a good start. Idefinatly have to show him who’s the boss. he’s two yrs. old , so I’ll have plenty of yrs. of friendship.
    Thank You again, TONY
